transfercase upgrade???

ive got an 87 ranger 2.9, 5 speed , electric 4wd. i plan on swaping axles this coming summer. im putting an 8.8 out back and getting a d35 for the front. my concern is the electric 4x4. can i swap out the electric transfer case for a manual shift?? im assuming i can do the hub swap on the 35 from electric to manual right???? what manual transfer case would bolt up to my trans?? would a transfercase from say an 85 ( manual shift) ranger work????
