i have a 97 explorer 4x4 4.0 the other day it made a loud poping noise from the transfercase. it was in auto 4wd at the time. after this the speedo started jumping all over the place. the car drove aok. i changed out the speed sensor on the transfercase, thinking this was the problem. now that i have done this the speedo works better, but fluctuates about 5mph at 60mph. the cruise control is accelerating & coasting down, in time with the speedo. the cruise did work before this happened. the auto & 4wh & 4wl all work ok. anybody have any thoughts on this.
