I would like to know what transfer case is the strongest and what year, make, model ranger, bronco II or explorer that I would find it in. any info would be appreciated. thanks

The 13-50 and 13-54 Chain driven Borg and Warner T-cases were used in the Rangers. There are Manual and Electric shift.

The manual are more reliable, shifting wise. The electrics seem to have problems with the electric motors as they age. This can be avoided if you know what you are dealing with and how to maintain them properly.

The 13-50's use a slip yolk for the front shaft, while the 13-54 uses a bolt on flange. The flange is more desirable.

As for the actual strength of them.....they all are pretty much equal. The are very stout cases and can easily handle any RBV engine.

Ahhh, yes forgot about that. Thanks

There are a few others, but those are the ones you can use in a Ranger.

5.0L Exploders had an AWD transmission, but it won't bolt to the usual RBV transmissions, and you'll commit yourself to a new engine and transmission to pull it off.

There is a 6 gear planetary 1354 used as opposed to the 1350s 4 plantary or the earlier 1354s 4 planetary, Im' not sure what year they switched to the 6 gear planetary in the 1354s though. They are all close in strength and shouldn't give you any problems.

Pretty sure it was '93 for the 6-planet in the 1354.

I don't think I've ever seen a failure in the 4-planet ones though so I agree, the strength is about the same.

I would say the 1354 is slightly stronger than the 1350 though, due to not having the u-joint inside it.
