ok so i have searched and searched and when i thought i couldnt find it i searched again and for some reason cant find out if i am able to swap my manual shift transfer case off my 84 b2 on to my 92 explorer that has an electric shift transfer case. so if anyone knows of a thread talking about this or a thread with someone doing the swap i would appreciate it alot. TIA

We dont get along at all but... it is possible. If you have a a full length center console that will be the only problem.

nope i only have the half center console, do all i have to do is bolt it up and if so will the stock driveshaft still work?

tcase will bolt up, rear shaft should fit just fine. front shaft will be different because of the slip yoke on the 1350. iirc, a shaft from the front of a truck with an fm145, 1350 case and d28 front end should be exactly the right length for a truck with an a4ld or m50d, 1350 case and d35. tcase shifter may or may not work depending on what you have, you need one for an a4ld or m50d. not sure what other ones work.

ok kunar im kinda confused so i will just say what i have... i have a tk4 in the b2 and a m50d in the expo i believe. so now that u know that what would have to be done... sorry im not really able to think right now

no idea honestly :dunno: i dont have any experience at all with the TK transmissions.

start here, put the tcase in and put the rear shaft in. at this point the truck is drivable in rwd. if your driveshaft and shifter work for this situation, great. if not, i already told you where to find the parts that will work. sorry thats the best i can do.

ok now i understand where your coming from you are saying i have to get the manual shifter for the case from one of those transmissions, sorry i wasn't putting the words together right now i get it thanks lol

85 thanks that helps alot so looks like i will just stick to the electric case cause i will never find those parts around here and although it would only cost 30 bucks i dont have that money right now so it will have to wait till i start building the b2 back up which will be a few years

If the lever isn't bolted onto your trans you are SOL because that needs swapped too. Some are retained internally which will require at least a teardown to extract.

Post #28 should sum it up.

I went the other way with my V8 swap, put a 1350 off a A4LD onto a C5 which uses the same linkage as a TK4.

Rep for you. Lots of good info in that post, it should be recorded somewhere so it doesnt get lost.
