When I dropped the tranny/tcase to change out the clutch and slave cyl I decided to rebuild the shift motor. Now it's all back together and now the 4wd lights won't go off and it(4wd) won't engage.Basically the 4wd indicator stays lit and the 4 lo blinks.Maybe I didn't line up the marks just right, would that cause it?I want to avoid buying another motor.

I would guess it isn't lined back up to the original location but I've never pulled a electric shift apart only manual shifts. Pull the motor back off and see if you can line it up differently is what comes to my mind

Agree. There are not many chances to build the shift motor in the wrong position, as far as all parts have matching keys. But take a look if nothing got inverted, and check position and continuity on the contact disc. If there`s not the expected electric contact, the motor will hunt for the commanded position, blink lights and go back to the previous position.

Same thing happened to a friend on his 98 when he pulled and regreased his shift motor. He just pulled the battery for a while and it solved it.
