So I recently replaced the fluid in my TC with mercon v atf but now I have a squeak in 4hi/lo.
When going slow enough it doesn't seem to be at the same speed as the wheel.
Does the TC need any additives? It didn't squeak with my old dirty fluid

Any help appreciated

Cheers

A few years ago Ford introduced a "transfer case fluid" that was supposed to superseded Merc V as the proper fluid for all transfer cases back to the mid 80s. It is just Merc V and some limited slip friction modifier.

Are you sure the noise is the transfer case and not something in the front end?

Not sure, but I am just assuming because I didn't have it with the old fluid. Sounds like the chain is squeakin. :dunno:
