transfer case trouble?

New possible problem started popping up now and then since I converted the Auto hubs to manual hubs.

It the middle of winter here so i am leaving the manual hubs locked. I have a automatic transmission.

the possible problem is this. When I turn the 4x4 off with the dash button. the light goes out but 4x4 doesn't always disengage right away. And it disengages anywhere up to a min after I shut it off when a thump.

If you're driving down the road, you may have to nudge or let off your gas pedal a bit to create a little slack to let it slide out of 4wd.

most of th time if it had automatic hubs on 90s modles u have to put it in revers to take it out of four wheel faster because that is the way that the transfer case is set up wether u put on manual locking hubs or not thats what i do on mine it faster than waiting u only have to back up a few feet though or u can wait

The problem is most likely your shift motor.
