Transfer Case problems

So I have a 2001 ford ranger with the bw 1354 t case. I have been having some issues with the t case making some really bad noises when I switch into 4wd. Its worse when I do it from stop than when I go into 4wd while moving. And worse yet when I go into reverse from a stop. Seems like something is binding really bad in the case.

any ideas?

Also where would I be able to find a spare one besides pick and pull and craigs list?

Ford or some parking lot where you have plenty of time to take it out before the guy knows.
