Like the title says, my transfer case is leaking where the two halves are bolted together, how much trouble is it to dissasemble and re-seal?
Thanks for the help
Jesse

IIRC, you just pull the rear flange off and then the 10 or however many bolts it is that hold the case together then lift the rear cover off. Clean the mating surfaces up real good, apply a new bead of RTV and reassemble.

Good deal, thanks
Do you know what the flange nut needs to be torqued to?

150-180ft-lbs according to the service book (clean any oil off the threads and apply a little blue Loctite on it as well).

transfer cases 4x4 rebuilt

I am buying a used transfercase with 40k on it from a junkyard. Are there any parts (ancillary) which I should make sure are included in the purchase. I do not want to disassemble it at all, just put it in. I dont want to have to go to the dealer and spend money after the fact.

I say screw it, it s costs the same to rebuild one or buy a functional used one.
