transfer case issues

my transfer case wont stay engaged in 4 high and wont go into 4 low at all
the truck is a 2002 ranger fx4 with the manual transfer case
I was thinking of switching it out but all the transfer cases im finding are from push button 4wd
are they the same basic transfer cases that I just need to switch out some parts?

They are the same basic transfer case, and the parts you need to swap out are the ones that are bad.

Did you try adjusting the shifter?
