Hello,
So I brought my Ranger home after buying it... drove it around a little and then suddenly lost all connectivity in my clutch on the highway! I had clutch pressure but nothing was engaging, I'd stick it in first and it sounded like gears chattering and spinning loosely.
I took it to my local (and good) mechanic, and he opened the driveline up. The clutch IS new(er) as installed by the previous owner and is fine, but the Transfer Case went, something inside went kaboom. Apparently, the previous owner did not replace the oil in the transfer case when he installed the new clutch... there was about an 1/8th of a coffee cup left in there.
So, I have a new one about to be installed and I need to know, is there anything else I need to check, to ensure nothing else was damaged? What should I have my mechanic inspect? I noticed there was a leak of oil at the transfer case on the towtruck bed... do I need any seals or does a new transfer case come with it?
Thanks,
Drach
