Have 93 ranger 4x4 a4ld went out. Have one from aerostar but tail shaft is longer how do i swap? Aerostar is same year. Do i have to do a complete teardown?

I was told at the junk yard i used to work at, that it isn't that hard to swap the tails. you need the gasket of course, and I would sugest getting pic that shows the assembly in exploded view. I'd start with the pic. go to ford parts dept and get them to look it up and print it out for you. the one here does it for me with no problem.

I have 3.0L in truck. Will one from 4.0L work?

no the bellhousing bolt patterns are different. If you have a 3.0 engine you are going to need a tranny from a 3.0
