Hey guys, just wondering what would be the best trans for me to swap in instead of the m5od-r1. Would a trans from a mustang work? I want more of a performance trans and the m5od-r1 isnt cutting it.

A t-5 can be done, but you need parts from a couple vehicles to do it and make it work well.

2.8l, 2.9l and 4.0l(OHV or SOHC) used Taunus bellhousing pattern

Mustangs used the 4.0l SOHC engines, same pattern as 4.0l OHV
2005 to 2010 Mustangs had 4.0l SOHC with manual trans(Tremec T5) using internal hydraulic slave

The Tremec transmissions used in the S197 Mustangs used some screwy hydraulics though. It has a valve-less line connection at the slave, that points straight down, like an FM145, and has not bleeder. You have to spend about two days vacuum bleeding from the top of the reservoir. It sucks.

Also, the shifter position is going to be tough, as the shifter linkages go through the rear of the trans, rather than top-loading like the Ranger transmissions did.
