got a 1988 ranger 4x4, 2.9, automatic overdrive trans. (a4ld?) truck is stock, my daily driver. in the morning when i put the truck in gear it doesnt engage. if i shift through the gears a few times and put it back in reverse and gas it a bit, it will go. then it is good all day, no slipping whatsoever. it seems to be better the more you let it warm up before you drive. the trans was rebuilt approx 1500 miles ago( about 3 years ago, it was my grandfathers truck, drove it about 15 miles a week) fluid is clean, no burnt smell. would changing the filter and fluid help this it all? or does this sound like a torque converter problem?
thanks in advance.
