Hi All,
I'm having an issue with my Ranger shifting, mainly the 1-2. Almost every time from a stop at about 2,000 RPM it'll jolt hard (comparable to a neutral drop at 2k). It'll sometimes do it when slowing too. I have found that I can sometimes stop it from doing this if I really get into it and let off right before it shifts. Every gear shifts with some authority yet they get smoother as I get to higher gears with 1-2 being the worst. Here's where I am so far..
I bought the truck about 4 years ago and it had this issue (it's gotten a little worse) The transmission was professionally rebuilt shortly after the purchase (due to another problem) and there was no change to this issue. I've replaced the TPS, VSS, Vacuum Modulator, and I've cleaned the MAF Sensor. If I reset the computer it'll run a little better but not much and eventually go back. I'm running out of ideas (and money). I've avoided swapping the computer and/or the MAF because both are over $100 and I'd hate to replace them and not have a fix.
A little more info about my truck. It's a 3.0 with A4LD and 3.73 traction-lok and has approx. 175,000 miles on it. I'm pretty sure it's the same setup that it came with from Ford.
I've spent a lot of time searching for an answer and hope someone here can help. Thanks in advance.
