trans not shifting to overdrive?

I have a 89 bronco II eddie bauer 4wd automatic the trans was rebuilt a couple years ago and it sat for a while now it will not shift into overdrive. Where should i start looking for the problem?

Does it have a switch on the shifter to turn the od off? If the switch is off AND the od bulb on the dash is burned out. easy to check. if thats not it back to the shop.

I have the same problem with my 1994 ford ranger 4.0 4x4. I changed the speed sensor on the speedometer cable to the transmission and the overdrive worked perfect for a day or two, but started doing the same thing all over again. This truck has always been dependable put this is getting agravating . does anyone know what i could check?please help me out.
