i have a 2003 ranger egde 4x4 with a 4.0 i have a 5 speed and was wondering what trans i have is their a way to tell what you have by the VIN and if so can someone help me

5 speed manual or 5speed automatic?

Manual = M50D-R1HD

Auto = 5R55E

5 speed manual
and is that a pretty good trans and is there anything i can do to it to make it any better, is their a heavy duty clutch i can get gonna need to replace mine sometime soon

Those are the good trans and heavy duty clutch for the Rangers.

If you are worried about durability or wear, you just can't beat the OEM clutch.

ok thanks for the info guys just looking to see if there is a better clutch out there or is the oem one is just as good i do alot of towing with my truck and wanna make the clutch last as long as possible

Well towing will shorten the life of any clutch, but the OEM one is pretty good. LUK is good too, but from what I understand, LUK makes the Motorcraft clutches, so either way, it's a pretty good clutch.
