trans fluid in the oil

I have a 92 Ranger 4.0L 2wd with an A4LD trans an I'm having problems with what looks like trans fluid in the oil.
Before anyone asks, no there is no signs of having water in the trans fliud which elimnates the radiator trans cooler, there is also no signs of water in the oil however the oil on the dipstick is way past the full line, was just changed but like I said has a redish tint to it like it has trans fliud in it an I finding out the trans fliud is always very low. I see signs of fliud leaks underneath the truck but none that would warrant the amount of fliud I am using.
My thoughts are that the vacuum shift module is bad an sucking the fliud up into the engine an thus into the oil, I don't know of anyother way trans fliud would get into the oil.
Is this possible.
Thanks in advance for your assistance
Dave

The vacuum modulator is the only way I can think of for trans fluid to get into the engine oil.

Yes, an odd one.
Even vacuum wouldn't have a direct connection to engine oil, and exhaust would be smoking like crazy if you were getting ATF in the intake.

BUT..............if the vacuum modulator's hose is connected to same vacuum manifold as the PCV valve...............then you have a path directly to valve cover and oil pan.

:)

Check PCV valve for signs of ATF

I checked the vacuum tree on the back of the engine where the vacuum line goes to the trans an there is evidence of transfluid there so I have a new modulator but the problem is now that I can't get to it on the trans. According to the pic I see here on the A4LD the modulator is on the right side of the trans but on this trans its on the left or inbound side and blocked by the heat shield an the cat.
