91 ranger v6 3.0 5 speed i got it 1 year ago been running 80/90 in it now im hearing it takes ATF someone please tell me which it is and if it is atf what damage has a year of gear oil done:bawling:

Yup, your M5OD requires Mercon ATF.

How is it shifting?

Drain it a few times.

What year did the M5OD's go to using Mercon ATF?

The M50D uses a needle bearing for the input shaft, using gear oil starves the tiny little needles. The PO of my Ranger was running some sort of molasses in my trans. I flushed it out a time or two and I ran regular Mercon in it for a while but the bearing was noisy when sitting in neutral. I drained it and refilled with full synthetic Mercon and it quieted it down a bit.
