only the 4 cylinder (2.0/2.3/2.5L Lima, not the '01 up 2.3L Duratech) transmissions will work, the Pre M5OD manual transmissions some of them had a removable bellhousing I believe so you might be able to use one of those, and I believe the bellhousings on the A4LD's are removable but have never looked that close...
