I am pulling a a4ld out of a 1994 4.0 ranger. I am too the point of taking out the bolt that hold trans to engine. Got all driver side loose and bottom and next one up(level with oil filter) bolts loose on passenger side. How do I get to top passenger bolts? Air box is in way from going from the top. I havnt taken out any off the exhaust. I read threads where they said it wasnt need to remove exhaust. Any tips

cross member is out. I ended up taking the fender well out. The reason I couldnt find the top bolt on passenger side was it wasnt there. got all bolts out last night

The only reason you should have for even opening the hood is to disconnect the negative battery terminal, there is nothing more you can do from inside the hood to remove the transmission. There is no need to take out your fender well either. Once you pull the transfer case you should be able to look straight in there and see all off the bolts. A 2 foot socket extension makes it very easy to get to them. For removal I usually just hook my extension to an impact gun and all of the bolts come out in about 1 minute.
