Ok..........

I got my transmission out. I have the M5R1 or M50D-R1, whatever you call it.
Got all the reverse gear stuff out. Now I can't seem to get the long mainshaft out. What is holding all that together ?

Also, I can't seem to get the front bearing plate off. I'm afraid I'll crack it. I have a small pry bar I'm using on the little bump on the bottom but it don't want to budge.

I can answer my own question here.

I have to get the front bearing plate off first. I can do that by using the slave bolts. When tightened up it should apply pressure to the plate. That should raise the plate up if I do it slow and pry on it a bit.

Once the front bearing plate is off, the input shaft slides forward and then the output shaft lifts up and comes out toward the front. The cluster gears follow suit.

I have to add this. My input shaft and main shaft were stuck together. I was lucky to have a friend with a torch. A bit of heat and it came apart on it's own. You may be able to use an air hammer to jar it apart, but the heat did the trick for me.
