Good Morning,
I just bought a used 87 4x4 Ford Ranger with and automatic transmission (A4LD I believe). Anyways, when I picked it up I know the guy i bought it from said it had a bad vacuum modulator. I would have to rev the engine a little to get it to engage into gear and then go from there, for the first hour and half it drove fine then all of a sudden it kicked out and i couldn't get it to do into gear for more than a second and then it would pop out and rev.
Right now its sitting in Jersey, my first question is does this still seem like a vacuum modulator issue? Second, would I be able to fix this without terrible difficulty if I drove down with the part (its lifted so easier access). Could it also be from losing fluid cause of the long drive? Or because of it getting to warm? Would the severe rain affect it? Thanks for any help!
Mike
