I have an 87 ranger 2.9 auto. I found a 5 speed manual that i would like to put in cause the auto crapped out on me. However the tranny i found is off a 2.3 four banger!¡!¡!¡ Will it work?

No. Bellhousing bolt pattern is different. If it has a removable bell you can try to find one to fit a 2.9.

The bell on the tranny in my truck seems removable. The donor one isn't.

You have two different model transmissions. I'm not up on the different types and years but I think after 90 they are one piece "m5od-r1".
