I searched around for info to this question but no answers were found so here it goes. will a top loader 4 speed fit in the trans tunnel with all the linkage being on the side? and has anyone used a toploader or know of someone who has?

I don't know of anyone doing it off the top of my head.

Wiki actually had some measurements surprisingly

More info would be appreciated though fa sho. What motor are you putting this behind? I'm not discouraging you, I'm just curious why you wouldn't choose to go with a better documented swap like a C?

I think baddad had a toploader in his Ranger, don't know the specifics though. :dntknw:

Take a look at my build thread, just did a 302 swap and used an np435. Yes it does fit but there will be some cutting involved to the floor. Link is in my sig.

Lots use the C4 trans also that has the linkage on the side. Top laoder and C4 came in cars with small tunnels, might luck out or find your BFH.

thanks guys for the responses.
I want a stick shift so no c? anything. I will probably use a t5 but I got a good top loader for free so I was just thinking that I have never seen it done.
as for cutting the floor all up I probably would but I got no shop and no welder to repair holes. so I will have to pay or beg for help and that gets old. I'm not against begging but only when its necessary.

That's a tough call there. If you're strapped for cash sometimes
it's wiser to go the path well trodden instead of one that might include those hidden expense dangers. Have you thought of just doing a C with a ratchet shifter? If you are determined to do the top loader, some measurements might help. But it might not be the best idea if you dont have access to some of that equipment.

yeah I know but I don't want the automatic. I have a brand new c4 with a hughs convertor but its not a stick and thats what I want.
as for the top loader I am probably going to sell it and pick up a t5 out of a foxbody stang as the overdrive will help.
also to answer your other question I am dropping an exploder motor and rear end in it.
already have accumalted(? damn brain)a bunch of parts I just need the engine(holding out till last),trans, and pretty much everything else.lol
I have most of the little things mounts, oil filter relocater, fuel system, header flanges(I know welding to be done)muffler, wheels but I am useing different tires(the tires I got suck), radiator, e fan with controller, camshaft, roller rockers, timing chain, bell housing for a t5, the entire fed from a 93 stang minus p/steering I need to convert the truck over first don't know which pump to use.
