Hi All, my ranger just started experiencing tranny problems. I have an 88 2.9l auto. It goes from 1st to 2nd then from 2nd to 3rd is fine except while in 3rd the it is all boggy like something is slipping, same with 4th. If the accelerator is hit to downshift the vehicle in 3rd or 4th, the tranny clunks really hard and is in 2nd again. Also, a noise is noticed when slowing to a stop in 1st gear. Its like a grinding rough noise and makes the tach dip down. Does this sound like the tranny puked 3rd and 4th or could it simply be the vacuum modulator?
