my haynes and chiltans manuals state to use 80w gear oil in all mist and mazda trans between the years of 83 and 87 than all 88 and newer mist use 80w and mazda use mercon atf if thats helps any. my books cover 83 to 92 models. hope it helps

Your book also never mentions the D28/35 hybrid axle, or the fact that SOME LATE model 90 Bronco II's came with actual M5OD Transmissions does it?
