for 450 bucks, it needs seals for sure not sure which one to get...Neil

Just me but the only way I'd buy the ebay transmission is by paying half now and half on picking it up. He's got ZERO feedback. He's probably on the up & up, but you never know. Buyer Beware !!

The 4R70 isn't a bad transmission, what happened? If you were making enough power to kill that then you will scatter a M5ODR2. As far as a ZF, you need a bodylift or you will be cutting your seats after you cut out the floor to make room for the massive beast.

wrong pcm, improper pressure control.my bad.i should not have reccomended using an earlier pcm.i should have insisted stronger that he install pats.and use the proper 98 pcm.even though it has worked for a manual conversion i helped with before.the year pcm must follow the wiring and trans used.no shortcuts,no mixing year of swap equipment.

well, I'm well on my way to convert the thing to manual which I would rather have anyway so this just forced the issue, I guess this is how we learn in the school of hard knocks, well at least that's the way I learn....Neil

am I going to need a different starter nose piece like the older small block stuff?

What part of PA are you in? I have seen M5OD-R2 transmissions in some of the local junkyards in the past, if you're on the eastern side of PA it might be worth looking around.

a little update on my progress, I bought a M5OD, I have it in the truck so I thought I would get the clutch working before I start anything else so if anything is wrong it will be easier to take back out, anyway as you all now know I have a 98 Ranger with a late model F150 5 speed in it and a 98 Mountaineer 5.0, I installed the clutch master cylinder a while ago and figured it would plug right into the slave on the F150 tranny, wrong!, there is a slight difference in the plugs or the slaves depending on how you look at it so I ordered a F150 hydraulic tube with the fitting, boy I hope I can figure a way to connect the the Ranger master to the F150 hose and fitting because I dought a Ranger slave will work in that tranny,,,ideas? suggestions? critics? all welcome,,,Neil

oh, one other thing I found out, the starter is different so I had to get one for the manual tranny which I figured I would anyway....more to come,,,Neil
