Tranny behind the 2.3

Hey all I might be getting an 87 ranger 4x4 that has a 2.3l and 5 SPeed manual Mitsubishi trains I think. The guy says it's stuck in 5th gear. Is there any way to fix this and if not what Trannys could bolt up in it's place thanks in advance

I you remove the shifter, you might be able to reposition the shift rails to neutral from the top end.
Otherwise, you may have to run the gears in reverse after you pull the trans, but then it might be easier to replace it.

Look in the Tech Library pages for transmission identification.

Yea I did I think it's the Mitsubishi And the guy said you can move the shifter to any other gear but then it will just lock up but if you leave it in fifth I guess you can stil drive it

Yea the guy said it was a Mitsubishi but could that be the same problem and I think I might have a old shifter from a tk5 that was in my 88 laying around so could I just use that?
