We just had our 2013 4WD DualCab Ranger have full engine rebuild incl Turbo Diesel, hoses and manifold replaced for $22,000. Just went to go camping towing our camper trailer and the Ranger lost power, dropped to 40km/hr with foot to the floor. This is not first time its done this. Drove it yest without load and it drove perfectly fine. Diagnostics showing nothing. Anyone have any ideas

Welcome to the site. Have you tested the injector pump?

Uhhhh.... 2013 Ranger Diesel?

Crikey. Youre an Aussie. Nvm.

Put a surgical mask in place of the air filter, and another over the exhaust. That will stop your truck from spreading covid.

Unfortunately Tracey, I don’t know there are a lot of people here familiar with your setup.

Don’t pay too much mind to Petroleumjunkie. He’s pretty smart but spends too much time on 4chan. 😛

Does it have def fluid?

I am guessing turbo is laying down. Is it eating oil?

We don’t have diesel Rangers here in the US (except for the ones from the 80’s), but I can try to help.

Sounds like a lift pump issue or turbo issue. Ford usually doesn’t run a lift fuel pressure sensor... so no codes would push me in that direction over a turbo issue (they almost always run an intake manifold sensor and you would get a code for low boost). I’d start with changing the fuel filters and then check lift pump pressure.

We’re not US exclusive, but we don’t have many members outside of North America. Your welcome to stick around and we’ll help you if we can, but there aren’t many here that even know which Diesel engine was available in a 2013 Ranger in Australia.

And it has diesel exhaust fluid? Automatic trans?

Throttle position sweeping out.... With APP this usually most definitely sets code. But not always...it can sweep out and cause a condition where trans protection kicks in. Or it is grabbing a temperature threshold.

Waste gate sticky....

I am going to assume you can not data log.

Sorry not much there i understand. Yes its an Automatic. No code showing on any diagnostic scan. Drives perfectly when not towing. Temp remains steady.
