Trac-loc for 2WD

I bought a 2003 2WD Ranger Edge 3.0V6, 5 spd, 8.8 rear. I knew a 2WD pickup gets stuck in wet grass, and I wanted to improve traction for driving around on my farm, on rough farm roads, etc. I installed a Trac-Loc limited-slip and couldn't be happier. The traction is greatly improved, and I still have the good gas mileage of a 2WD (averaging 21 mpg in local driving; 25 highway, measured over 1000 miles). I can't notice any difference in the driving of the truck around curves, etc, as friction modifier was added to the diff oil when it was installed.
(Sorry for the double posting of this message. The first time I inadvertantly posted it on the LowRider forum.)

I'd like to do the same. I have a 2006 xlt 2wd. What was the cost/time involved?

trac-loc installation cost

I paid about $225 for the trac-loc itself from Summit Racing (on the Web), and paid a local garage $150 to install. Also replaced bearings and seals at the same time for another $75.

nice!! thats good to know, many people wants to go with lockers but we dont have that much info from guys using em
