Well I ordered them and it went through. so we'll see what happens I'm assuming it is a pair of them ("Hubs").
I have a sneaking feeling when they go to fill the order they're going to find out oops we don't have any.
The part is YJ-84-93-37780 says for Jeep rear. Hope it's right for me.

I’ve never heard of a manual locking hub for a rear axle. That raises some questions in my mind.

According to the tech article, that's what they are. For a few years, the rear Dana35 axle on some Jeeps (CJ?) Had locking hubs.

If that transaction goes through, I'm going to order from there. Those are the heavy duty hubs. I've never had a pair of those.

Yes. Your spindle nuts for the auto hubs won’t work. You’ll be swapping to the system with 2 nuts and a washer with a bunch of holes in it. One of the nuts has a pin that sticks out for the washer to grab.

Thanks. The nuts I can get from Warn or maybe other places cheaper but Warn makes them, doesn't seem to be a shortage.

I'm not ordering anything (else) until I have the hubs in hand. Haven't heard any updates so this may be a wild goose chase.

Need the hub tool. $13 to $40 depending what design. I think it's this one, right? Says it fits.

Need inch/lbs torque wrench. Not expensive for beam type one if that is ok, or will take recommends for sure.

Need grease they are saying lithium grease, there is Motorcraft bearing grease don't know if it's lithium, What should I get?
Ford is XG11.

There are several TRS posts on swapping them, also, I have the shop manual, might be of some help, but I'm not sure the Ford manual hubs (which, it says, only were available w/ manual trans) are the same parts as the Warns so I'd go by the TRS instructions primarily I think.

One TRS post is talking about lock washer the one that has a tab, can let go then you get loose bearing. Something like that, probably not something I have to worry about (?).

I am wondering about putting 200+ ft lbs that is a lot do I stand on it or what.

Changing Bearings In Manual Locking Hubs - The Ranger Station
when I got truck they said three wheel bearings were replaced, they didn't know which 3. Duh.
so I might want to have a set on hand. I don't think I need them though. Not sure if I'll be able to tell if they are new or not but if there's no play then they should be fine.
I understand about the bearings get just barely tight and you don't want them tightening more when you torque up the hub.

I may be doing a lot of stuff for nothing re the Warn hubs... but... if I can't get the good hubs I'll probably go w/ Milemaker that'd be better than autos at least and the routine is the same.

I have a hub socket of that style. But I think I found it didn’t fit or was somehow harder to use. I use one that looks like this. I could get size measurement at home tonight.

I use “red and tacky” grease for my wheel bearings and a thin coating of the same when I clean and relube a hub. There’s a hub refurb video on my YouTube channel.

I’ll have to go pull out my set tomorrow and look for a part number or something or see if I can find the individual pieces. I bought a set years ago that had a couple different of the tabbed sockets and a spindle removal tool for a slide hammer that when used with a slide hammer makes it a slick bit of work. Highly recommend if you have to pull a spindle.

Don’t forget, you are also going to need a big hex socket to take the auto hub nut off.

I probably should use a torque wrench for doing bearings, but I usually do it by feel and spinning the wheel for the first one and and good-n-tite on the second. Beam type would be ok, but it may be hard to read where it’s at. My inch pound is just a cheap Harbor Freight for now, but I probably should have looked for something slightly more upscale.

I’m using a red wheel bearing grease right now, might be red-n-tacky, I’d have to look. I’ve also used a blueish grease (Cerulean) that Autozone only has in a tube but is rated for wheel bearings. Been reasonably happy with those so far. I used a Ford rated grease that was black and wasn’t really impressed, especially because it’s the same color as dirty/contaminated grease. It worked I suppose. Years ago I got a blue grease that I was really happy with and I don’t remember what exactly it was and I haven’t been able to find it again.

I don’t know the exact size, but the auto hubs take a regular style socket (hex socket). Been a lot of years since I last messed with auto hubs so I don’t remember. I don’t know that I’ll get to looking for any auto hub stuff tomorrow to try and figure it out, hopefully someone knows what size you’ll need. I never bought the socket, always just made something work to get them off the first time or borrowed something and that was that. My 2000 Ranger and moms 02 Explorer I know the axle nut sizes, but that doesn’t help you because those are CV axles and way different. (32 mm Ranger and 34 mm Explorer if anyone is curious). Yours will be something like 2” or something, most likely not metric.

I promised more info. Here is the socket I actually use. 2" ID, almost 2 3/8" OD. You can see the brand and part # in the pic. This stays in the toolbox in the truck. I may have another in my junk yard tool bag.

Not sure what the curly parts do if anything I don't see them on others.
Some, the pitons look kind of cheap. Some have the pitons inside the surround which would be rugged but they are way expensive.
