Toyo Open Country A/T

I've put 16,000 miles on these tires so far and I'm pretty satisfied. I purchased these tires in P265/75-16, a slight step up from the OEM 245/75-16's. At the time they costed me $128 per tire but they are up to $141 from the same tire dealer. They are still very affordable for a tire of it's size though. I've put these tires through all four seasons of Michigan and performed very well. I like them more than my BFG A/T KO's I had mounted before these Toyo's. The Open Country's have a good amount of siping, which gives them a confident amount of grip on rain, snow, and ice. I've taken these tires through the muddy, spring-time, backroads of Central Michigan without any issues in 2WD. I found myself using four wheel drive quite a bit less last winter (no weight on the rear), compared to the BFG A/T's. Winter road crews were thinned out quite a bit, so our roads were never plowed/salted during the morning commute (and it was a hard winter for SE Michigan). They hold up to the Michigan road very well too. I've hit some pretty nasty potholes without any ill effects (our paved and dirt roads are rarely maintained). These tires are nice and quiet but still have a nice, little amount of hum to them. Just loud enough to get some pedestrians to look around to see whats coming but they do not drone into the cab. They handle paved roads very well and do it without feeling spongy or soggy. These tires are one of the better all terrain tire offerings on the market for a daily driver application, in my opinion.

Also, the current tread depth with 16,000 miles is 10/32nd's. New tread depth for P-Metric tires of this model is 13/32nd's. They are wearing very well and I've only had to have one wheel rebalanced (just recently).

I'm leaning towards Coopers for my next set. They are still American made, right? The Toyo's I have are Japanese. I wanted to buy an American made tire but the Toyo's were the best option available at the tire shop, that were within my budget. I had to replace a ball joint and a cracker rim as well, so the budget was tighter than I wanted it to be.

I've looked into them. Depending on what there production line up is like when I need new rubber, I'd definitely consider a set. The Sentinels A/T's in load range D seems like they would make a good year round setup. Figure once the Toyo's hit 5/32nd's I'll start shopping around.

had a set of Toyo's and they were great for sure! i'm now running a set of the treadwright's and like them equally as well. i will be getting another set of their at's when these wear out (over 4 years now and still close to half the tread left!).

mine have the 'kedge grip' and are size 215/85x16, E rated michelin casings. they are really good on ice, and great on snow, in mud (up to about 6-8 inches), and on moderate trails. plan on going to the 235/85x16 or 245/75x16 next summer... whether my current ones are worn out enough or not!
