My credo
The perfect is the enemy of the good.
I think before I went to F series I'd consider the newer Rangers. I "built" one and it came out to 43,100. Sounds like a lot, but if you translate it to '97 dollars it's not a whole lot more than my '97 would have cost new, and it's really a different truck. Can't say it offers a whole lot in amenities over mine, but, it has a way more powerful engine and the tow capacity is 7,500, and it has lockers, and way better gas mileage. To get the skids I had to add the FX package but probably want that anyway. It doesn't even look horribly different than mine (I resist change). I think the value is there. To me it would make more sense to get new vs used, even 2019's are horribly expensive, I wouldn't pay 35k for a '19 with 60k miles on it that's nuts. Here's "mine". Not willing to part with all those dollars, but might consider the upgrade if I could get something for the 2 I have. I'm guessing there are tow hooks by the front bash plate. I doubt it's as easy to work on as mine, but, apart from routine stuff I probably wouldn't have to work on it, with a warranty, at least for a while. I like the looks of it fine and this is with the 17" wheels which I think for offroad are better than 18". Anyone have one like this?

no but i really like those new rangers. i keep trying to talk my wife into one so i can keep the full size nissan but still have one of those awesome new rangers.

a buddy at work has a base model new ranger and loves it. he travels all over texas going to "haunted" places and doing pod casts about what happens when they stay over night in them.

That’s a tough call. You have to decide if the cost and the new vehicle is worth it. The additional power and tow capacity is nice. The truck has been shown to be pretty solid overall. The down side, in my mind, is all the extra integrated electronics. Something you can’t really get away with in a new vehicle, regardless of brand. You have to balance it all in your mind if the positives outweighs the negatives.
