I couldn't seem to find of this was asked or not but what is the towing capacity of the 2001 4.0 rwd ranger. I mean true towing not what they say it is. I am about to use this truck to get Craigslist cars, fix, sell, repeat. So ill need for 1 hour most drive if that matters. Any questions just ask.

I can't give you a capacity in terms of pounds, but she will do that.

I towed another Ranger home on a dolly with my 4.0, and my dad uses a friend's trailer to move vehicles around with his Explorer from time to time. That trailer was bought to move 8N tractors, and has even held our F250 once.

i think it's 5900 lbs max off a class III hitch. better off you check. anyway, i towed a boat weighing 2000lbs and it felt like nothing was on the back...

edit - well the manual actually says 5600lbs max trailer weight, but you have to take into account the total weight of the truck plus cargo in the truck including people, and the weight of the trailer and whatever the trailer is carrying combined. for a 4.0 super cab with auto trans the grand total should not exceed 9500lbs.

If you have an automatic get a heavy duty transmission cooler.... Like a true cool stacked plate
