bought an 88 ranger 4x4 2.8 auto.looks like the fuel pump is down.
gonna have to either trailer it or dolly it home.where and how its parked a dolly would be so much easier to do.going about 20 to 25 miles,do i need to pull the drive shaft?
the trans is just year old from a rebuild and idont want to screw it up:black_eye:.

thanks for any help,chad

or you can do like the wreckers do, if you can get the dolly under the rear axle, lock your steering wheel in the straight ahead and haul it home

Id unbolt the driveshaft and run with it. If you put the rear wheels on the dolly, I dont recommend locking the steering wheel straight. The front wheels need to be free. Also, remove as much powersteering fluid as possible and leave the cap cracked open.

**edit** Nevermind the last comment. I got it mixed up with using a towbar...

i think iam gonna drop the shaft at the rear and tie it up just to be on the safe side.my son wants the truck to drive to work.
only have $400 and some work on a golf cart in the truck, but if i fry the tranny towing it would ruin the whole "good deal " thing.

Never tow it with the steering unlocked and front wheels on the ground. It would be all over the place, and end up in the next lane riding beside you.

Pull the driveshaft, it's only 4 12pt 12mm bolts.
