tow/haul button dilema

Hey everybody, I have a problem with my tow/haul button on the end of my gear shift selector. The button does not turn on tow/haul mode. I just visited ford parts in town and they sell a switch or a whole new gear selector. What I'm wondering is if the switch can just be replaced or do I have to replace the whole gear selector. Also some instructions on how to do either would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ranger lovers.

There is no tow/haul. Only a button that turns the overdrive off. Keeping the truck in 3rd or 4th depending on the transmission.

Most of the failures I hear about are actually in the wiring down under the dash where they come out of the gearshift lever.
