Does anyone know??? I just bought some new torsion keys for my 1998 Ford Ranger 4X4, and the torsion keys don't fit into the frame like the factory keys did. Is this normal? Or did they send me the wrong ones? The new torsion key is too fat to fit into the pre-molded place the factory keys fit into on the frame.

Sounds like you got the wrong ones. Also, unless your bar adjuster bolts are maxed out, the keys are worthless. You can get the recommended 1.5" of torsion bar lift using the stock keys normally.

other solutions

That's what I thought, but the seller (on Ebay), obviously doesn't want to remedy or send new keys. I couldn't really tell if they were wrong, but was pretty sure. So..... What else can I do to get lift out of the front end?? Any suggestions???

put it all back together like it was and crank the adjusters. like rangerguy said, you can get 1-1/2 to 2" with everything stock.

Like 4x4 ranger guy said, put the factory keys back in, and turn them. I cranked mine 3 turns each and got approximately 1.5 inches of lift out of them without having to be replaced. All you need is a socket wrench, a can of WD-40, and a jack to get the weight off the front of the truck as you adjust them. I would also leave negative feedback on the ass-clown from Ebay for not standing behind what he sold you.

+1

These keys are really such a ripoff. Only on rare occasions do Rangers come with not enough adjustment left on the bolt from the factory. At that point you do need them, but 99.9% of the 98+ Rangers out there have plenty of adjustment available on them.

Not to highjack the tread or anything but when you adjust the bolts for more lift do you turn them clockwise or counter clock wise?

will cranking them counter clockwise lower the truck by the same amount of height?
