I swear I can't catch a break with this truck.. I just had finished with rebuilding my engine, ran fine, then transmission started making a rattle noise that would go away when you revved it, but when you turn the truck off and start it back up, it would come right back. So I pulled the transmission, check out the torque converter and it looked stripped inside. Went and got a new torque converter, now it wont spin clockwise.. Do I have a bad pump? I don't know much about transmissions besides they're a PITA:annoyed:

edit: also, if it were to be the transmission pump, would an 4r44e pump work?

thanks! :icon_cheers:

Yes I have the 5r55e. I honesty heard it making noises so I babied it home less than half a mile. We compared the pumps and they are not similar

The gears are the same but the stators are different the 4R55E stator looks like it will fit. The problem I am thinking is the filter is upstream of the pump and everything else is downstream. It will need to be completely rebuilt if indeed the pump is bad.

Well we pulled the bell housing off, the input shaft will spin clockwise with the TC but not with the bell housing on. It's an 06. I just had it replaced about 10k miles ago.. Sumbitch had over 220k! Haha

Being as the transmission is pulled out I'm debating on just taking it to a transmission guy I was recommended from a good buddy of mine and have him diagnose it for me

Just for kicks, since the trans is already out, bolt just the converter to the flex plate, then bolt just the bell housing to the engine, and see if you can spin it over by hand.

I have heard of the bells warping and causing really weird things to happen. The test for it is to have just the converter and bell bolted up to the engine and spin it by hand, see if the converter's stem runs true compared to the opening.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner - we snapped the torx trying to take the pump off. When I brought it to the transmission guy we took it off and it fell apart. Needless to say the pump went out
