Hi. I hope that I am in the correct section for this question. I have a 199 Ranger Sport with the 4.0, I am in the process of dropping a motor in the truck. I was wondering what the best way to align the torque converter up to the flywheel. I have the new motor sitting in the bay but I can't figure out how to get it to align.

THanks for any clues or help in advance..

You want to get the engine and trans close to each other, but far enough that the converter studs aren't dragging, then spin the engine until they line up. It can be a bastard sometimes, particularly on the 4.0 where you have no inspection plate.

Thanks for the tip man, im hopefully going to get back at it tomorrow and give it another go.

Oh yeah, it helps to eyeball them before you start putting stuff together and try to get them close.

For the 4.0s I try to line stuff up in the starter drop because that is where you are gonna be looking at it anyway.
