torque bind?

So my truck has manual locking hubs. I wish I had a manual t case but I don't. I would like the option to be able to do 2 wheel low. So in my eyes if I left the hubs open and put it in 4 low I would essentially have 2 low. I looked up online and some people said they have done it with no problems. My dad says that the t case is chain driven and since there is no load on the front driveshaft I will get torque bind and destroy the t case. Is this true? Any input?

It works fine, hell I drove for a week in front wheel drive after toasting my rear driveshaft wheeling.

There is no way a 'no-load' situation will cause the front end to bind, the axle shafts will rotate freely of the tires. And unless your turning or spinning your rear wheel's the hubs are rotating with the axleshafts as if they were locked in anyways.

I used to do that all the time with my BII.. I would powerbrake it in 2-low just playing around.. I never had any issues with binding or harming the t-case.. like he said there is "no load" so there is no resistance to cause binding from front to back.

No issues with doing this at all...

It's no problem at all, I do it all the time when I'm backing in the trailer.

Perfect time to use it. I frequently do this as well with our steel dump trailer, when I need to back it up my buddies steep driveway :icon_thumby:

It won't hurt anything, there is nothing to cause bindage, the front drivetrain will rotate but not will not be under any load.
