So I may be doing a fair bit of boodocking, and I'd really like to add some insulation to my fiberglass topper. Any suggestions?

First thought was to take it off, flip it over, mask the windows, and put a good layer of spray foam in it.

Next is to take a few sheets of 1/2" pink foam I have left form something else and cut and fit and...

After that I'm not really sure. Hopefully somebody out there has already been down this road.

I bought an 83 F150 once that had an aluminum cap on it that someone had done something similar with sticking the fiberglass insulation on inside then they took long screws and screwed wood paneling over it and siliconed around the screws.

Looked kinda goofy but im sure it kept things toasty.

There is drop ceiling tiles made of fiberglass material and has some sort of plastic covering. More flexible than foam board and less invasive into space since they are about 1/2” thick.

Attachment? I’m thinking contact spray might work. Maybe...

Damn, I ahdn't even thought about the ceiling tile option. With the plastic top coating that might be the way to go. Put the first layer plastic out over the side windows even.

I’d look for a company that does spray foam insulation in your area... give them a call or email. Explain what you’re doing and see what they would charge you to spray it.
You want closed cell foam.

The company I work for does spray insulation, relatively sure we charge 1$ per inch per square foot. Closed cell is like 7r per inch, so between farts and body heat one inch should keep you plenty warm.

One might want to consider a platform or some kind of insulating padding for the bed. That sheet metal gets cold and has no give.

It’s kind of like hammock camping, you need insulation under you as well as over or you will still be cold.

The bed side is figured out, I have some leftover foam that is the rough thickness of the bed grooves. A sheet of hard 1" foam and then a sheet of 3/4" ply over that will pretty much take care of it. I only have to do about 2/3 of the bed across, going to have a bunk with drawers down one side. I wasn't sure about the bed sides, but the fiberglass ceiling panels would probably work there as well.

I also thought about the spray foam idea, but the truck will need to stay in service while I get things ready. To my mind, I would have to take it off and flip it over for it to be sprayed properly. I never know when I'll have to go what direction, so scheduling something like that would be problematic.
