would a good toploader be a good trans to run in a v8 swap ranger?

A toploader is going to be one of the best choices for a four speed if thats what your into.Problem can be finding a complete setup.Check out David Kee toploader transmissions for parts and info.Jegs lists all the hurst handles with measurements so you can choose them easily.Good luck with your project!

ok i have a m5od-r2 5 speed now that came out of an 89 f150 with a straight six. Is this a good trans. Is it a transmission for speed or towing and hauling. I want to stay with a 4 or 5 speed. And does tremec make a hydralic clutch trans or are they just cable clutches

If you can get one that's complete they are a lot of fun. As long as you don't need overdrive they are good. If you want to cruise for any amount of distance the T5 is the way to go. The extra gear will not only save you gas but the drone of spinning the engine at 3K. You can convert the tremec to hydraulic but stock they are cable pulled.
