Alright, I'm sick of all the shit that gets thrown into the bed of my truck...and the shit that blows out at other people. lol So I was looking into getting a tonneau cover. But I have a fullsize toolbox... I was looking around and found this (http://www.autoanything.com/tonneau-covers/60A1742A0A0.aspx). I have an Extang BlackMax on my Dakota and it's a real nice cover, so that's what made me look at Extang. Plus, a 10 year warranty on the tarp and lifetime warranty on the frame and rails. Not bad, eh? What are your opinions on it? I have a pretty limited budget to work on right now, so I can't go and get a $1000 cover.

I bought a fiberglass one off craiglist for my f350. It was for a short bed mine is a long. I cut about 6-8 inches off of it and used door hinges mounted to angle iron frame and I now have a cross over toolbox and a cover. Now I ended up paying about $500 or so for everything, but I also got a snugtop cover off the list for $100 and plan to do the same for the ranger. So unless you just want to pay the big bucks for a rollup, there are cheaper ways.

I had an Extang on my old '97. I loved it. It fit nice up along the tool box and sealed real well. Mine rolled up.

Not the best pictures, but you get the idea.

I thought about making one out of plywood and staining or painting it. Not for the truck I have now because it has bed rails.

I know a few people who bought the Extang cover and have had it for several years and have had no issues. They all have tool boxes mounted right behind the cab. Years ago on one of my early Rangers I had the issue of the tool box and wanted to haul stuff across country while in the military but with the tool box I could not use the tonneau cover. I went to a guy who makes custom canvas covers and I had him use my tonneau cover and he shaped it into the style like the Extang cover. He built a brace that attached to the tool box and the cover buttoned down across that brace. That way I could access my tool box and keep the cover buttoned up. Looked really sharp as well. Buy the Extang and you will love it. The price is really great and the warranty is really great as well.
