Tool or Wrench for Seat Removal


I thought about rebuilding the battery packs myself, but for the cost of having batteries plus do it, I let them have the fun of soldering new tabs on and putting everything together LOL. These new 20V packs I'm having problems with are only 3 months old, so if they're bad Dewalt will be either replacing them or refunding my money, or I'll try and see if they'll swap them out for the larger capacity 4aH packs LOL.

How do those seats line up with the old hardware? Do they fold forward and otherwise fit or are the slightly wider than the Ranger seats?

Can't really say for sure right now, seats are at the house but the B2 is still at my friends garage probably till this next weekend when I can get back over there and get it. He was finishing up the paint yesterday, I did a lot of the sanding but let him do the rest of the prep and paint, so I haven't seen it since Thursday before it was painted LOL

As soon as I get it home I will start working on the seats. To me it looks like they should just bolt in, but who knows. I guess if anything I can drill holes and bolt them in LOL
 
So if anyone is curious the proper tool for the seat belt anchor is a Torx T-47.

Going to try swapping the seats this weekend so I'll have a better answer to Mark_88's question regarding how they line up with the old hardware. Looks like I can just swap track and all over so a direct unbolt and bolt in should work. As far as tipping and sliding they are separate functions on the Explorer seats, they seem to be about the same width but I'll know better tomorrow. I will try and take some pictures as I go and post up here.
 
Well so much for that idea, seats out of a 94 explorer DO NOT work in an 88 Bronco 2

Go back to the JY and roll up the carpet on the Explorer you got the seats from. I believe you'll find a sheetmetal 'hump' spotwelded crosswise to the floorpan, and the seats bolt into this at the front.

I drilled out the spotwelds, stole the hump from a '93 Ranger extended cab, and used it to install 93 seats on my '91 extended cab. Poking around for a console, I noted Explorers had something similar going on. Your results may vary - but might be worth a look.
 
Seat brackets have different mounting angles so they won't work. In my case I need different brackets as the sliders are messed up so back to the scrap yard they went.

Went to all 3 pick a parts in my area and nothing else to be found. Guess I'm pretty much out of luck, nothing around here is in good shape in the bronco 2 department by the time they end up at the pick a part they're past even being called junk. Did find an 85 EB B2 with the somewhat rare rear hatch with the rear glass that opens, of course its been trashed already.

So I guess seats are once again on the to-do list LOL.

In my case the pick a parts are 30 miles away from each other plus 30 miles away from me. Maybe I'll look at some point but not worth the drive again for me.
 
Well, sorry for saying anything...

The ones I took out fit perfectly into my Ranger...maybe it is different between 2 door and 4 door...I only took the driver side brackets...the seats were too ratty to use so that worked out great...

I will definitely keep this in mind...won't recommend that without some serious caveats...BII's are definitely off my litht...
 
I did find another EB B2 but the seats were in worse condition and the tracks didn't look all that great either, however the passenger side seat did operate like its supposed to in the pull the lever and the back flipped forward and seat slid forward, however not like it should, seemed like sand in the tracks keeping them from moving properly.

I'll keep watching though as I'd like to get them replaced with properly working seats LOL. Don't much care about keeping the power lumbar crap as I've never had a need or want for it.
 
My seats had the power lumbar when I got the truck...never bothered to hook it up and drove it like that for about ten years...didn't miss the lumbar feature.

The tracks need maintenance about once every two or three years...cleaned, painted, greased when necessary. My first set rusted out and broke on the driver side so I was extra careful after that.

The tracks on mine won't even slide back far enough to get the bolts out to swap the tracks. I tried spraying a lubricant in them hoping it would free them up, but I think the tracks are damaged :(. If the tracks weren't damaged, I could have just swapped the tracks to the new seats. Not exactly happy at the moment as the seats I pulled out of that explorer were in great condition. I guess I'll have to keep looking for some good tracks from a bronco 2 then swap seats over to those tracks.
 
The seat tracks are bolted to the floor with 8mm diameter bolts that have 13mm heads

Where the torx comes into it is to hold down the seat belt buckle track which really does not need to be unbolted from the floor

There is a much smaller bolt that holds the buckle to the side of the seat
(it has a 10mm head)

And on many newer trucks (1990-up) the rail is also secured to the seat track near the front of the seat with a 10mm nut.

Going to try and get to the pick a part again soon...ok rather there's 4 of them now LOL, so I need to go to all of them and find a good bronco 2 with fully functioning tracks and hopefully good seats, otherwise I'll be yanking the tracks off a bronco 2 and finding some explorer seats...I could care less about the Eddie Bauer seat coverings right now, I'd rather have fully working seats that doesn't make it feel like the back end of the B2 is sagging terribly.
