tooker out muddin for the first time

dude do you have a sound clip of the exhaust just asking even though its the wrong thread

its people who wheel in 2wheel that make things not fun. first the 4x guys have to pull you around all day long second they trench out the holes to make it impossible for everyone and third because of the lack of traction ,even if your locked, and the lack of low range you put alot of stress on your truck and extra heat wich if you have an auto tranny can very dangerous. lets keep the 2x's on the on the road or the sand.

Not when my 2wd has bigger more agressive tires than your 4x4. And it is locked which is the same as you with open diffs. My gearing is perfect too. I can walk beside my truck in 1st gear. Plenty low for mud. BTW if you are needing low range for mud, something is wrong with your truck..... you would never pull me from the mud, i would pull you sir.

its not a matter of gearing or tire size. if you have bigger tires then you have to push those meats instead of them pulling you. you being locked in the rear is by no means the same as open front and rear. and you say you can walk next to your truck in 1st? i could put mine in low take a poo and at a slow pace catch up and pass it in low. all i was saying is that you have to push your rig harder which generally leads to breakage and that leads back to having a 4wd pull you home.

and i assure you you wont be pulling me but ill save the whos truck is better for another convo lol.

nope..
think about it, you have 2 tires spinning, i have 2 tires spinning, your 2 tires that are spinning have no traction. one of my 2 tires that are spinning will most likely have some sort of traction available to it. so i am propelled forward. and i still dont see why you need low range in mud, it aint rockcrawlin, wheelspin is needed in mud, and yes, you probably can catch up to your truck in low, youre dividing the gear ratio by 2.73/1. Thats like comparing apples to grapes. Not even valid in the comparison. 2wd offroading takes a lot more skill b/c once youre stuck there is no pulling the little sissy lever to get out...

you didnt discuss the distruction of the wheeling area or the added strain on your vehicle. and i didnt limit my statement to mud you did.

and also its a button not a lever:icon_thumby:

You were talking about trenchin out holes, that means mud..
The OP was talking about mud, so was i. Mud cant be destroyed, it just makes it more fun. And wait till your button malfunctions or the shift motor craps then what good is your low range gonna do ya? Those little motors will crap out at the drop of a hat. No more added strain offroad than when I smoke the tires on pavement, what could be more stressful than that? Believe me the clutch and motor mounts are the weak links in the Ranger drivline.

The biggest difference in the mud and water I think is the unforseen ruts or logs that your locked 2wd isn't going to crawl overif needed. Especially a rut that you can't back out of.
I used to have a 2wd Ranger in college that was a blast and I was too dumb to know any better but that little truck went a lot of places with no locker and just a guy or two on the rear bumper jumping up and down.
