Drove the T-Ranger to the coast and back yesterday. 200 miles round trip. 70mph on the interstate, 55-60mph with a lot of ups and downs in the Mountains, and 25 miles running in loose sand above the high tide line at 20-35mph.
Never a hiccup, and there was always enough power to do what I aked of it. The more I do with that truck, the more I love it.

dude, I need one of those engines... at 175k mine is getting slower, the 4x4 and 31's aren't helping anything... if you have any lines on another engine, I may be interested

i got a question, how to do you keep mud,water,etc. from getting in the turbo?

Most likely the same way you keep mud, water, etc out of your motor! An air filter! ;missingteeth;

thats not what i ment, i ment if he had waterproofed anything. or built anything to keep debris from harming the turbo:icon_thumby:

Ebay, or out of a 1980's Turbo Thunderbird or SVO Stang(haha good luck) or a Merkur...

where can i pick up one of these turbos?

FWIW, it's not a direct "bolt on" item.

The easiest is to get the PCM, wiring, engine, and trans from something like an '88 Turbo Coupe. There was a guy on Craig's List that was selling just that not too long ago, for not that much money. It was too far away for me though.

I am kind of curious what the OP's mpg was on the trip..

Pete

My turbo ranger gets 25 mpg in in a mix of city, highway, and flooring it just for fun.
