I get from most yards I call or stop in to ask about parts. I'd almost consider swapping the wiring to a 98's but all I really need so far is the ECM and clutch switch.

So.. what if anyone of you would know, would be the part # a 93- 95? 4.0 manual 4X4 ECM? And.. do the VIN#'s really help in the search?

It's kinda disconcerting when the parts guys ask me for the part numbers Like WTH! "you" are the parts "expert" ! :headbang:

Take the numbers off of yours and check on E-Bay. I just picked one up for my 94 Explorer. Wasnt that expensive and the exact ECM I needed.

Thanks for the reply! but, my truck is auto trans I would guess the Vin would show that

I concur. When I call salvage yards, they hate being called JY lol. I'm told most of the time 1984? We don't inventory them and if we have any you'll have to come see if it's got what you want lol. That's why I call, don't wanna make a trip for nothing. That's why I grab everything I can when I find one. Stuff's getting harder to find nowadays. Good luck.

The VIN wont nessecarily help. You would need the numbers off the ECM itself. On your E-Bay search put your year, make, and those numbers. If there is any listed it should come up.

Problem with that is that she is swapping from an auto to a manual so the ECU code won't help.

I appreciate the input everyone and thank you. Ifcould find a part number on one of these PCMs I'd really appreciate it! everybody's asking me for a part number

Here is one listing on E-Bay.....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Engine-Control-Module-ECU-ECM-PCM-Engine-Control-Computer-fits-1992-Ranger-4-0L-/252282451425?fits=Year%3A1992|Make%3AFord|Model%3ARanger&hash=item3abd34b5e1:g:9YIAAOSwUuFWup21&vxp=mtr
All I typed in my search is 92 FORD Ranger ECM. It came up with multiple pages of ECM's (make sure it lists it for the 4.0. Lots for the 2.3, 2.9, 3.0, and the 4.0). Scroll down the page to item specifics and it gives part numbers and also interchange part numbers are in the description.

You might even want to try the auto one you have now. I know with 93 Mustangs you can run the auto ECU on a manual with no problem, just not the opposite,
Dave

Thanks guys, the eBay one was not the one , and using the automatic programmed pcm should run the truck but give it CEL because the would not find a torque converter
This is the part number if I buy a remanufactured pvm F37F-UB.
