So I am putting new lights in front and rear or the truck but can’t find a good place to put toggle switches other than where the cig lighters should be. I’m putting a double din stereo in. Was wandering if it would make my truck leak if I mounted something to the roof of the cab? I took all carpet out and taking headliner out as well. Thought about putting calk in the hole or any other ideas? Wanted to do a piller pod but they don’t make them for my year :( any ideas would be great. Thank you.

You can get a pillar pod from a company called Glow Shift on amazon. I have one and it fits well. I held it up to my 94... perfect fit. However I installed it on my 06. I did have to lose the grab handle to do so.

I also believe your cab roof is double walled right in the center front... no need to drill all the way through.

I like using aluminum angle to fabricate brackets. You can buy it at Home Depot or Menards, etc.. Drill a hole for the switch, round the sharp corners with a file, and use 3M brand double sided tape to mount it under the dash. That way you aren't drilling holes in your truck's dash or other areas. I've never had one come loose in 20 years. IF it's mounted out of constant, direct sunlight where the tape doesn't degrade, and you thoroughly clean the area first with rubbing alcohol.

It's easy to cut, easy to file smooth, easy to shape to your liking, and you can make a whole bunch of brackets with one piece.

GB :)

My dash had a great space below the light switch for a few more switches.

I know the '97 dash is different than mine, but a good place might be on the trim panel piece just below the steering column (they're kindof low there, but still within reach). This trim piece should come off, allowing you access to put your toggle(s) in place and then hook up your wiring.

I was able to mount 4 switches on the radio bezel using 3/4" circular rocker switches. Easy to mount and look good too. I also like the 12v distribution blocks. They are cheap online too.

That was the main one I wanted. I wanted to mount my CB there as well. Thank you.
