Todays weather

I got to work ok. I-85 is clean and dry. Secondary roads? Well, for southerners, they're horrible. For northerners, they're "Quit crying and get your ass to work or school."

Got a great parking place today.

It's like I was telling people on FB, the roads will be clear by Tuesday. I have three days' worth of food and toilet paper by accident.

Got my drive done again & trailer dug out, was about to load the tractor up & head out but got word that the amish plowed them out- yep they have some sort of horse drawn trailer type plow. So - Everything is put back, hopefully thats it for awhile. Have to work friday now, kind if ticks me off, I could of easily made it in today. such is life. Guess today I will rest.

low negative teens with wind chill, but warming up to 33 today!

I did notice with the tire chains on the snowblower that sucker really digs and I have to stay down a gear because the tires don't spin and I don't want to burn out the clutch.
Supposed to be -1* in the morning with -15* wind chill. Already have cardboard over the grilles of the Ranger and the Pacifica.

Doesn't your Ranger already have shutters over the radiator that do basically the same thing as cardboard?

Our Bronco does anyway.

No. I know it's not totally necessary but I'm on the highway a lot at like 65-70 mph.

It is possible that one of the higher trims has them but mine doesn't. The only vehicle we have with shudders is the Escape. But it does have the Titanium trim/package.

Trekked across town to the gas station to put the proper amount of air in the snowblower tires.
And stop for a bottle of bourbon.
Streets are still snow-covered and it's very hilly where I live but with the snowblower in back and the two sandbags I didn't need 4wd.

Sir, your priorities are backwards.

Amen. I was going to reply to @JohnnyO that I didn’t believe he didn’t have an air compressor, but then I understood what the real problem was.

If I understand correctly, water can be "super saturated" in temperature, either to the hot or the cold. When the equilibrium is disturbed it flashes over. So liquid goes instantly to solid. As the water hits the car it turns to ice.
You can force it on the hot side with a microwave. I've done it by accident. 33:33 instead of 3:33. It looked perfectly normal until it touched the bowl. Then instant flash off. I got a nice burn.
... usually on bad weather days its the ones closest to work who “cant make it”...
We have a guy that lives so close I can step out the office door and watch his living room TV. He's always the 1st one to call out.

Edit: Todays is the first time we've had power since I posted that picture. It's been interesting. Gotta give credit to my Kendas though. They've done as well as any tire could. 1 inch of ice doesn't leave much to grab.

In chemical engineering school, in one of the chem labs or materials science, I don’t remember, we would “make” the super cooled water. If you were careful, you could bring it 3 or 4° below 32°. Then, if you tapped the glass, you could actually shatter the glass with the ice expansion.

Of course, I went to an excellent school, and we’d bring it 3 or 4° below zero, and then pour in a shot of orange juice. It would immediately make an orange popsicle which we would put in pure ethanol, not the stuff you buy at Home Depot, and we would celebrate our success….
